MINUTES – MNSA BOARD MEETING – DECEMBER 6, 2007

 

ATTENDEES: Chris Rieder, Joe Sanderson, Eddie Conrad, Mike Marshall, Bill Grusich, Sean Duffy, Rusty Belsome

I.   MEETING CALLED TO ORDER BY CHRIS RIEDER

III. COMMITTEE REPORTS

 

 A. GOVERNMENTAL COMMITTEE

 

Several permits were reviewed and there only objection issued was on the following permit application:

 

Cargo Carriers – 137 AHP – RDB – Review of permit to extend an existing barge fleet from 6 wide to 8 wide to allow increase in fleet capacity. No dredging or fill would be required. The expansion would extend about 400 feet channelward from the low water reference plan (LWRP). Barge fleeting activities have been permitted in this are since 1989.

 

IV. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

 

Sean Duffy advised the board that TWIC is planning on opening a center in St. Rose before the end of the year. This will be the only other center in the New Orleans area besides the center in Baton Rouge.

Sean Duffy advised the board that the Corps of Engineers has backed off the diversion project at Fort St. Phillip.


V. NEW BUSINESS

 

Eddie Conrad informed the board that the Admiral and Captain of the Port had accepted an invitation to join them on board the Riverbarge Explorer for New Year’s Eve.

 

VI. ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

The next board meeting is scheduled for 14:00 hrs. Thursday, January 31, 2008.

There was a motion by Eddie Conrad to adjourn and that motion was seconded by Mike Marshall.

Meeting adjourned.


The next board meeting is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on January 31, 2008 prior to the General Membership Meeting.
